Sweet Child of Mine....

Hide your wife, hide your children, dig out the Xanax and wine....

The 18 Month Sleep Regression has hit the Berg household. How lucky are we?

My sweet child, who normally goes to bed at 7:30pm without a fuss and sleps soundly until 6:30-7:30am has suddenly become a howler monkey. He kicks, screams and carries on for all diaper changes, screams to high heavens whenever someone mentions the word "bedtime" and has now decided that somewhere between 4-5am would be an awesome time to wake up.

And by wake up, I mean he silently wakes, stands up, goes to the side of his crib and screams bloody-freaking- murder until someone comes to get him. He will then put his tired little head on your shoulder, lull you into a false sense of security as you think he's going back to bed, only to scream his head off once more until you finally cave and turn on Sesame Street.

WTF?

I think we're all a little shell shocked by this latest endeavor.  Seriously, one minute you are sleeping peacefully in your warm bed and then BAM! screaming toddler.

So, needless to say, there was no working out for this girl this morning. Instead, there was a lot of "holy shitting" and "now what are we going to do?" panicking.

Truthfully, this has been going on for the better part of the week, but someone really had their game face on this morning. That and Mr. Berg and I never read the parenting books so we had no idea this was coming.

There was no Sesame Street this morning. In a brief flash of smart parenting, we decided that waking up at the ass crack of dawn does not equal extra TV time. So, instead of quiet tv watching, we gave ourselves a screaming, crying, hysterical leg barnacle that we kept passing back and forth.

Fun, right?

Methinks I'm going to need a new game plan..... or ear plugs..... maybe both?

From what I've read this can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. Ohsweetpreciousbabyjesus No!
