How far along?
34 Weeks and 4 days.
How Big is Baby:
The bump says Baby Boy is the size of a butternut squash and is somewhere between 4.2 and 5.8 pounds. My money is that he is on the smaller size as he's been consistently measuring just a little bit behind.
Symptoms: Oh my tailbone. It just gets worse. My hip hasn't bothered me at all lately.
Total weight gain/loss:
For the record: I'm up 26 pounds since getting pregnant. I weighed myself yesterday and this morning. I am only up 3 pounds from my appointment 2 weeks ago, not seven. Looks like I really, really did have to pee.
Like I said before, I'm still making a very dedicated effort to eat healthy and get in plenty of fluids.
Best moment this week:
I got to spend a lot of time with Mr. Berg this weekend. We had a very nice weekend to ourselves. We also had dinner with our favorite set of local friends who live down the street from us.
Worst Moment of this Week:
The seven pound weight gain debacle. I really thought I would go insane.
Movement:
I've noticed that his kicked and jabs are slowly down and I feel more rolling movements. I think he's starting to slowly run out of space.
At the risk of bringing on issues. He has yet to get stuck in my rib cage or jab me in the stomach or hang out up in my lungs. Thank You Buddy!
Food cravings: Water, fresh fruit, iced tea and now salsa and chips.
Gender: A very sweet baby boy
.
Labor Signs: Nothing to write home about.
I'll have my first cervical check and the dreaded GBS test in two weeks.
Belly Button in or out? In innie with a mind of its own
What I miss: Always the following:
Raw Sushi, Wine, Beer, Pants with zippers and snaps, Spinning, a Hard Work Out, Running, Staying Up Late, Spray Tans, Frozen Margaritas, Jamaican Smiles and Walking Up Steps Without Having to Stop and Catch my Breathe, Wine on the Back Deck on a warm night. The beach in general.
What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery together, my dear friend E is going to come visit soon, weekend day trips with in the Hubbin :)

Funny Things
- At my doctor's appointment yesterday I was informed that I gained 7 pounds in two weeks. Nope, not kidding. In my defense I really had to pee and I gained only 1/2 a pound at my last appointment. (Yes, denial is more then just a river in Egypt.)
I thought I would die. Who gains that much weight in two weeks?
Mr. Berg very sweetly looks at me and says "Honey, you still look beautiful" - At the same doctor's appointment, my doctor walks into the exam room and says "So Mrs. Berg, it looks like Baby Boy will be here in six weeks" I smiled and was preparing to say something when we heard "WHAT?@?@?!?!?! WhAt?!?@?" coming from the Dad chair.
I nearly died laughing. Mr. Berg was having a literal panic attack. He knows the average pregnancy is 40 weeks, he knows that I'm currently on week 34. It just never occurred to him that 40-34 is 6. Subtraction is not his strong suit. - Mr. Berg will be out of town for the next two nights. I am irrationally upset about this. So upset that I cried last night and made Mr. Berg feel terrible. I have never had issue with him being away until I got pregnant. This will be his second time out of town this pregnancy, and it is the end of the world in my book.
- We are taking baby care class on Saturday. We have to bring a diaper, a doll and a blanket. Guess what? We only have a diaper. Thank goodness for nice co-workers with small children.

Week 34 Letter
My Darling Baby Boy-
Six weeks (give or take) is all that is left for you as an inside baby. Part of me is totally blown away by that, while the rest of me thinks its about time for you to get here. Six is kind of an important number for you. You are the start of the 6th generation for my family here in our small town. With your birth, a whole new story in all of our lives begins. Not just for your Dad and me, but for an entire generation.
I don't meant to tell you this to put pressure on you. Trust me, there is no reason for that. Rather I'm telling you this so you know how special you are. How unique a hand you have been dealt. It's a special priveledge to be the first of your generation. In a way you get to set the tone. Granted, before long you're going to have cousins and siblings to screw it all up. But for now, it's all you baby.
You see, your Mama was the trail blazer for her generation. Having survived that thus far, here is the advice I have for you.
For starters, be yourself. Be exactly who you are, stick to your gut, trust your instincts. I found the best of us in our family have always trusted our guts. It might sound crazy, but it has certainly guided us towards a lot of success.
Secondly, build a network of people you trust to surround yourself with. Your Uncle LB is the perfect example of this, much better then I. He's had the same circle of friends since childhood. He'd do anything for them, just as they don't anything for him. Find your inner cricle, find your strength within in it.
Don't take yourself so seriously. It took me almost 28 years to figure that out. Take life with a dose of humor. Know that not everything you do will be perfect and well accepted. Just try your best and laugh at the fucks up.
Love. If there is one thing you take away from this, it's love. Find love, give love, spread love. When all is said and done, you don't want to be surrounded by material things, you want to be surrounded with love.
Take Care of Yourself. You only get one body. Use it well and take good care of it. Heart Disease, High Cholestoral, High Blood Pressure run rampted in our family. It's shocking really. Exercise, eat right, don't smoke. Drink wine..... wait you're a guy..... drink beer. Relax anytime you can and find ways to reduce the stress. It will always be there. But find a way to check your baggage when you don't need to rummage through it.
And finally, never stop learning. Education is so imporatant. From preschool, to grade school, high school, college, the school of life, whatever it be, learn! Absorb everything you can. You can never know enough, you can never have enough. Surround yourself with resources, be it books, organizations, people, never stop learning, never stop asking questions.
It is a big, bold world out there baby boy. Whether you decide to join the family business like your your Mama or you venture out to parts unknown, know this. We love you and support you no matter what. Be an engineer, be a taxi cab driver, whatever you want. Just do it well and know, we are so very, very proud of you.
And as always....
Know that no matter what, your Dad and I love you with all our hearts.
You're our baby boy, always and forever.

33 Week Survey
How far along? 33 Weeks and 4 days
How Big is Baby: According to the bump, the size of a durian. Whatever in the heck that is.
He is probably somewhere around 4.5 pounds. I'll get a better estimate next Monday when we have our doctors appointmnet.
Symptoms: Still hip and tailbone pain. The hip has been a lot better lately, the tail bone is only getting worse. By the end of the day, the pain takes my breathe anyway.
And if one more person tells me about a friend of theirs that broke their tail bone in delievery, I will scream!
Total weight gain/loss:
Still holding strong at 23 pounds. My doctor is perfectly okay with that and so am I.
I'm still making a conserted effort to watch what I eat and incorporate more veggies and fruits in my diet for this last month. I've heard tons of horror stories of women that gain a ton of weight in their last 6 weeks.
I know I'll gain but I don't need to go balls out.
Best moment this week:
My shower, it was just absolutely perfect in every way. Seeing our maternity pictures, they are beautiful. Getting to spend so much time with our friends and family. I love them so.
Worst Moment of this Week:
No matter what, it's just difficult some times when it comes to a certain person and I hate it.
Movement: All the time. He just likes to be active and that makes me happy.
I've been feeling his hiccups a lot lately and it's just so cute.
He still likes male voices. There are three people in my office he will always move around for if he hears them and of course, his daddy.
Food cravings: Still water and fresh fruit. Ice Tea
Gender: A very sweet baby boy
.
Labor Signs: Some minor cramping here and there and of course, braxton hicks but all and all nothing that has me or anyone else concerned.
Belly Button in or out? Still an innie. An innie with issues but an innie none the less.
What I miss: Always the following:
Raw Sushi, Wine, Beer, Pants with zippers and snaps, Spinning, a Hard Work Out, Running, Staying Up Late
New Additions: Spray Tans, Frozen Margaritas, Jamaican Smiles and Walking Up Steps Without Having to Stop and Catch my Breathe, Wine on the Back Deck on a warm night. The beach for memorial day weekend.
What I am looking forward to: Three days of rest and relaxation with my hubby. We need it so badly.

Playing the Role
There's going to be a strange lead in here, so just go with me.
I watched part of the special on the series finale of House the other night. While I have always enjoyed watching the program, I was never a stead fast follower. I typically get my fill of House episodes via reruns on summer weeknights and the occasional weekend afternoon if nothing good is on Food Network. I swear, I could watch the Food Network all freaking day.
Anyway..... Hugh Lorie was discussing how strange it would be to never play the role of Dr. House again. He discussed his relationship with his character, how he knew him inside and out and could make script changes based on what he believed Dr. House would really say, really do, or really feel. While he never said it, it was also as if Lorie was relating the end of the series to the death of his character. While yes, in the finale Dr. House ride off into the sunset to parts unknown, to Lorie, Dr. House is forever gone.
The whole concept struck me as both strange and exciting with an element of sadness mixed in. He knew that role so well, but would never be able play it again. And then it hit me..... I'm about ready to have a change in roles myself.
For 29 years I have just had to worry about me. Sure, I have family and friends and a husband to worry about. But they weren't born of my flesh, I did not carry them inside of me for 9 months. Thy are independent of me. Baby Berg, is very much the opposite.
Just as my mother has been a constant in my life for the past 29 years, I will be to Baby Berg. I will be saying goodbye to my childless self and entering motherhood. No matter what happens for the rest of my life, no matter where I go, no matter what I do, from now on, I will be a mother. I will have a son. I will never just play the role I'm playing right now again.
How strange.
How exciting
And yes, there is an element of sadness mixed in.
My husband and I have enjoyed our DINK years. Double Income No Kids. We go where we want, when we want to. We spend a lot of our disposable income on wine, concert tickets, trips to see friends and trips to see each other (yes, we live in the same house, we're just never home together. we have to vacation for quality time).
I doubt there will be anymore random half drunk Wednesday nights because someone had a bad day at work or someone needed to celebrate.
We have always been responsible people. But come July, we'll be reaching a whole new level.
Nonetheless, we are excited for our role change. We are excited for all the changes, excitement, love, stress and craziness that are heading our way. We've studied our lines, we've meshed as characters and we've undergone dress rehearsal. Sophie and Bob are still alive after all, aren't they?
Something tells me we'll be just fine.
Even if it will be different.

Ten Things
A Random Assortment:
1. Mr. Berg is extremely sensitive to poison ivy and poison oak. Go figure he comes in contact with it last week. He looks and feels miserable and there isn't a thing I can do for him. Poor Guy.
2. Nursery furniture is getting put into place TONIGHT. YAY!!
3. I'm officially done with work related things that take place after work until after Baby Boy arrives
4. Next week I am making a bunch of meals to put in the freezer for after the baby comes. Our lack of income for 10 weeks while I'm on maternity leave makes me antsy. The more I have stock piled, the better.
5. It's been rainy and cloudy for two days. I can't wait for some nice sunshine.
6. This will be our first Memorial Day at home in at least 4 years.
7. I'm craving a trip to the Islands. We probably won't go again for at least 2 more summers.
8. Mr. Berg will be out of town for a few days next week. I'm starting to get nervous about it. I never cared before. I care now that I'm huge pregnant.
9. Speaking of huge pregnant. Oh.my.god. And I'm going to get bigger?! Sweet Mother of youknowwhat.
10. My baby shower was Saturday. My thank you notes are done and ready for Mr. Berg to add comments too. BOYAH!
(Thank You Notes- I am so anal about them. I cannot receive something without sending one. Don't tell me not to send one, it will bother me until I do.)

With 7 Weeks To Go
With 7 weeks to go....
-Our office is full of baby gifts, most of which Mr. Berg hasn't even seen yet.
- There is a lone glider chilling in the nursery, awaiting the arrival of the furniture
-Speaking of furniture, it is sitting in the garage waiting for someone to move it
-With any luck, it will all be in place tomorrow night.
With 7 weeks to go....
-I am still pretty comfortable. I sleep through the night which the exception of a few potty breaks. My right hip and tailbone are in constant state of soreness, but all in all it's manageable.
-Tylenol has cured what ails me almost every time, other wise, a good night's sleep.
- My skin is breaking out like crazy. I think some of it had to due with Baby Shower stress.
- My poor boobs..... that's all I have to say about that.
With 7 weeks to go......
-I can't wait to see who's been growing in me all this time.
- I'm already sad that I won't be pregnant anymore
- I adore watching my belly move all around as he throws he's evening dance parties
With 7 weeks to go....
- I see pictures of other little boys and I can't believe I'll have one of my own so very soon.
- I wonder who's nose, who's eyes and who's chin will be looking back at me very soon.
-I know I'm standing on the edge of a life changing moment and I can't wait to jump right in

33 Week Letter
Dear Baby Boy-
Or should I refer to you as Spoiled Baby Boy. You are certainly so very well loved already, but we already knew that didn't we?
This past weekend was our Baby Shower and showered we were. So many awesome gifts from our registry were purchased on our behalf. From a swing to a baby monitor, bath tub and a car seat base. So many of the essential items you'll need were loaded into our trunk after a very awesome weekend with family and friends. Everyone is so excited to meet you and so excited to find out your name. (Shhh, it's still a secret).
This weekend also marked out last weekend as world travelers. We won't be heading anywhere new and exciting for the next 7 weeks. Our doctor would like us to stay close to home and I honestly can't say I blame him. Traveling sure does take it out of us. In three days we traveled 12 hours by car, walked about a million miles, visited and celebrated with friends and slept in a very uncomfortable bed. It was so worth it, but I know it took a lot out of us, didn't it?
You are the best baby a Mama could have. I couldn't help but feel slightly guilty when friends and famiyl commented on how they had heartburn or swelled or couldn't sleep when they were pregnant. You and I, we're a good team. Sure you lean into my hip a little more then I could like, and then there's your love affair with my tailbone. But all and all, we do okay. I have yet to be miserable. You have yet to drive me crazy..... Let's keep this up when you're an outside baby, okay?
I love you Little Man.
Can't wait to see you in 7 more weeks...... SEVEN. That's like nothing in the grand scale of time.
Holy smokes!
Have fun in there. Stay safe.
Mama.

How far along? 32 Weeks, 4 days
How Big is Baby: Baby Boy is size of a squash.... although the bump isn't telling me what type of squash exactly. How none specific of them.
At our bi-weekly appointment on Monday, Baby Boy was measuring a half a week behind but that could have something to do with his position. He was all curled up on my right hip.... as usual.
Ouch!
Symptoms: Hip and tail bone pain. Nothing extreme, just bothersome.
Still sleeping pretty well, although I wake up really hot at night more often then not.
Total weight gain/loss:
I'm at 23 pounds and holding. I'm okay with that.
I really need to get back in the habit of laying off the sweets. I've decided to start focusing on eating clean and healthy foods. I am good with that for regular meals and snacks. But lately, I've been indulging too much on treats. I do not need something big and sugary every day.
Best moment this week:
Getting our glider. My parents gave it to us and it is awesome. I can't wait for the rest of the room to come together.
We had our maternity pictures taken this week. It was so much fun. I can't wait to see how they turned out. Although I'll be scrubbing the grass stains out of my pants for the next three days.
Worst Moment of this Week:
Family Stress
Movement: Little Man is still really, really active a lot of the time.
He loves my Wednesday morning manpower meetings. It is pretty hysterical. I think it's because I'm in a room where 14 men are all talking. He loves their voices and goes crazy the whole time. Which makes is very hard to concentrate.
Food cravings: Still water.
Fresh fruit is always a plus. Lately sweets, I need to knock that crap out.
Iced Tea with Splenda
Gender: A very sweet baby boy
.
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks are starting up. Most of the time they aren't anything to write home about. Although I've had a few where I'm been like "woah, thank goodness I'm taking the medicated birth route"
Belly Button in or out? Still an innie. The bottom is getting pretty shallow. The top is still cavernous.
What I miss: Always the following:
Raw Sushi, Wine, Beer, Pants with zippers and snaps, Spinning, a Hard Work Out, Running, Staying Up Late
New Additions: Spray Tans, Frozen Margaritas, Jamaican Smiles and Walking Up Steps Without Having to Stop and Catch my Breathe.
What I am looking forward to: My shower is this weekend. I can't wait to see all my favorite ladies!

Funny Stuff
The Back Pain Problem:
Baby Boy loves to hang out on my right side. Specifically, he loves hanging out against my right hip. Add to that his new tick, leaning on my tail bone, and you have the perfect storm of lower back pain. Most of my day is consumed with alternating pain in either my right hip or my ass. I either feel like I should drag my leg behind me, or that my tail bone has grown a hook and it's trying to pop out my butt.
I keep feeling around back there expecting to feel a lump or a bone or a perhaps a dagger. But so far, all seems pretty normal. Thanks, Kid. I really appreciate you playing puppeteer with my muscles. That's really nice of you.
Last night Mr. Berg and I visited the Mid-Wife for my every other week appointment. I made mention of my hip and tail bone pain. She confirmed what I already knew, there isn't much that can be done. Although, she did offer to me a pamphlet on Pregnancy and Back Pain.
Mr. Berg thought this was the holy grail of information and carried it out of the office like it was gold. Ever the skeptic, I figured it would be full of information that I already knew and was already doing.
As we were pulling out of the parking lot I started reading the brochure. By the time we got on the highway I had put it down (2.5 miles later).
MB- Why aren't you reading your information?
JB- I don't like the pictures.
MB- You don't like the pictures?
JB- Nope, the women in those pictures are ugly and it's annoying me.
MB- There could be good information in there and you're ignoring it because of the pictures?
JB- Yup.
(Stopped a red light)
MB- Give me the pamphlet
JB- I'm telling you, the women are ugly and it's distracting. (hands pamphlet to husband)
MB- (Peruses pamphlet) You realize these pictures are technically illustrations?
JB- Yes, I am aware.
MB- You are refusing to read information that could possibly help you because the illustrations are ugly?
JB- Does that surprise you?
MB- (sighs) No, not really
(five minutes of quiet goes by)
MB- The women in that pamphlet really are ugly.
JB- Told you so.
My Sample
I have to bring a "sample" with me to every doctor's appointment. When I first got pregnant, I was given a cup and was told to bring that cup with me to every appointment with a sample of first morning urine.
After some debate on what constitues that first time you pee in the morning. 4am or 6:30am? I'm known to go both times... It was determined that the first time I get up to go, even if it's the middle of the night, I should make a collection.
So I do, and I make sure to wash and dry the outside of the cup once the sample is secure. No leaks for this girl.
Thus, most mornings prior to my appointment, Mr. Berg will find my sample sitting on the bathroom sink. It grosses him out every time. And I giggle. I giggle because A. It's just pee and B. What does he think our kid is going to do to him?
When morning arrives, I transfer my cup from the bathroom counter to the fridge. Mr. Berg always makes me put it in a baggie and ensures it's well hidden in the fridge. Heaven forbid someone open our fridge (after breaking into our perfectly locked up house) and find pee in the fridge.
He refuses to touch the cup and is disgusted by the fact I carry it in my purse on the way to our appointments.
Trust me, Coach, Louie, Kate.... they've all seen the sample cup, they are all still in service. It's not a big deal.
Yesterday I was running late to pick up Mr. Berg on the way to our appointment. I called him on the way and saying "Meet me in the driveway, bring my sample."
I pulled into the drive to find my husband standing on the side walk holding my sample, wearing a rubber glove.
Oh good gravy.
The Nursery Carpet
We finished painting the nursery early last week and had the carpets cleaned on Friday while Mr. Berg was out of town.
I was given strict instructions to make sure the cats stayed out of the baby's room. I may have ignored that little gem.
On Friday night the cats ignored the room. The door was propped open an the window was open but the carpets were damp. Seeing as I have two furry wusses, no one ventured into the forbidden kingdom.
Early Saturday morning the carpet was still slightly damp but a nice breeze was filtering through the room so I felt the door propped and the window open. Later that afternoon I couldn't find either furr ball. It wasn't long before I found them stretched out on the now clean, dry carpeting, snoozing in the sunshine.
A few minutes later Mr. Berg called to check on me (or maybe the carpets). The cats aren't in the baby's room are they? he called.
Hmm.... Nope, nope they're aren't.
I didn't see either cat until the sunset. For them, it was probably the best day EVER.

Week 32 Letter
Dear Baby Boy-
With 8 weeks until your arrival, I find myself wondering more and more what life with you will be like. Will you be a good sleeper? Will you like the cats? Will you love the sunshine or prefer the indoors? Sometimes I wish I could get a cheat sheet, so I'd know how to prepare myself. Even just a list that says "Your baby is going to love the color green and like to listen to Beatles music." But at the same time, I am really just as excited to get to figure all of these things out by myself.
Yesterday was my very first Mother's Day. (Sure there was some debate on whether or not it counted. But trust me kid, I've been carrying you around for 32 weeks now. I'm your mom. You're my son. That's the end of the story.)
According to your Dad, you wanted to make sure my day was special and it most certainly was. I love the bracelet you picked out. It is beautiful and I'm thrilled that we can add to it together as our lives go on.
Being a Mom, being your Mom, means the whole world to me. I cannot wait to meet you, cannot wait to watch you grow, cannot wait to see you grow up. You are so incredibly loved.
See you in another 8 weeks or so.
Mama.

Settling In
With the nursery painted and our schedules firmed up for the next 60 days, Mr. Berg and I are settling in to a new rhythm. Yes, there are still a million things to do, agendas that are filled with meetings, doctor's appointments and baby classes. To Do Lists are continually growing and the crazy life we're living is still in full swing. But there is a sense of calm behind it all.
As of yesterday we have approximately 60 days until Baby Boy arrives. His room is painted, his carpet is being cleaned Friday, his furniture is awaiting assembly in the garage. Next weekend there will be a shower to celebrate his arrival and gifts from friends far and wide are starting to show up on our door step.
We are settling into the calm before the storm. Aside from preparing for baby we don't have a lot of big plans. Our couples plans include catching up on everything on the DVR, heading out to the Farmer's Market a few times, spending some time on the deck once we get our flowers planted and sleeping in. We never make mention of it, but we both know, our time as just two is slowly fading. Before long we won't be making decisions for the two of us, but rather, for our family.
We talkexcitedly of Disney World, trips to the beach, water parks, amusements parks and museums. We sign when the Sandals Resort commericals come on TV. Will we ever get back there?
Our life is amazing, complicated, boring and chaotic all at once. We never know what the next moment will bring us but we embrace it none the less.
So much of me wonders, how on earth did we get here? It seems like yesterday I was graduating college and trying to piece together what my life would look like. When I compare what the reality of my life is to the dream I had for it, they don't even compare. They are completely different.
I once thought I'd marry into the military. I pondered base assigments, deployments, the distance between my family and me. While it always seemed so different and so exciting, it never truly felt right.
Now, here I am. Living in the same county I grew up in. Working a job I always wanted to have (mostly loving it, and sometimes not so much). I have a husband whom I adore. He is the type of husband I always wanted but never thought I would have. I am a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend. I am a mother to a little boy, who's face I have yet to see but I dream of every night.
I all honestly, I never thought it would be this good. I never thought I'd have all of this and so much more. I can't help but want to wrap it all around me like a warm blanket and snuggle in.
I once thought I'd be a girl that never settled. But in reality, I just never had something I wanted to settle into before.
Life is really, really good. And I am so very, very grateful.

I Am a Turd
Since getting pregnant, you know, way back in October, I have communicated with my MIL three times.
The first was when we told her I was pregnant over the phone. Where she proceeded to congratulate us and then ask if the baby was planned.
The second time was at Christmas when we wished each other a happy holiday. She didn't mention the baby, my pregnancy or anything remotely baby related.
And in March she sent me an thank you card for sending her balloons to surprise her with our It's a Boy! announcement. Again, never mentioning the fact that I was having a baby. Just "thanks for the balloons, they brightened our day."
Well, no shit Lady! They should, you're getting a grandson.
Anyway.....
My shower invitations when out about a month and a half ago. MIL claims she never got one. So another one was sent and again, she claims she never got it.
Oy!
So, finally, I scanned a copy of the invitation and emailed it to her.
Two hours later I got a email back telling me how excited she was, how wonderful the shower will be and how she can't wait to see me with my MIRACLE!!!!
Yes, BOLDED, UNDERLINED, AND ITALICIZED IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
With 36 exclamation points tossed in for good measure.
OH DEAR LORD.
I could not keep a straight face.
First you ignore my baby and now suddenly he's a miracle?
Am I carrying baby Jesus?
So, for the past two weeks I've felt the need to announce my every move by saying "My miracle and I are going to the store", "Me and my miracle are going to bed." "Hey Everyone, my miracle and I have to pee."
I am a turd.
And I'm just fine with that.
So is my MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

31 Week Letter
Dear Baby Berg-
Here we are, down to single digits in the weekly until you arrive count down. It seems crazy to me. I can remember when we were 9 weeks pregnant and now here we are, 9 weeks to go. Time has flown.
I'm excited to tell you that your room is finally painted. Your Daddy worked so hard getting the paint just right and the trim looking perfect. I hope you have many wonderful years in that room. We planned it so it would grow right along with you.
Your Uncle LB was in this weekend too to help. We helped us pick up your furniture and get it moved into the garage. In another week we'll be able to move it into your room. We just need to make sure you can clean carpets first.
Everyone is so excited for your arrival. From Uncles and Aunts to Grandparents and friends. Everyone is just so excited. We can't believe July will be here soon. In truth, Mama can't really believe it's May already.
You have been a determined little mover lately. Your rolls are very forceful and seem to be very deliberate. I was laying in bed Sunday morning feeling you roll from side to side and I kept thinking that the movement reminded me of something. Lo and behold, your Daddy rolled over that exact same way. Suddenly, forcefully and with lots of power. You are without a doubt your Daddy's son. I can't wait to see you together.
This weekend we will celebrate my 1st Mother's Day together. Some people think it's silly that I'm so excited about it. But I always tell them this. No matter what happens, I'll always be your Mom. So whether you're on the inside or the outside, it's Mother's Day for me too.
I love you Baby Boy. Stay safe in there.
Mama

Friday
Today brings an end to my last marathon week before Baby Boy arrives. You know what I mean by Marathon Week.... a week where no matter what day it is, you have 11 million things on your to do list, 5 appointments and not a single evening at home.
Monday I had a full day of work with meetings and appointments to boot followed by a doctor's appointment, trip to home depot and home to make dinner.
Tuesday I built volunteered at Habitat for Humanity with my Mentoring Group and attending a mixer in the evening for a board I sit.
Wednesday I had a full day of work, two appointments, a late afternoon board meeting and a dinner event complete with former football player speaker.
Thursday had its fair share of meetings, employee discipline responsibilities and finally an evening spent working at our family's second business and dinner.
This morning I was up early, loaded the dish washer, cleaned the first floor of our house, cleaned up cat puke, did two loads of laundry and had breakfast before skirting out the door to participate in mock interviews at a local high school all morning. I spent my lunch hour grocery shopping, running home to start a third load of laundry and grabbing something to eat.
I'll leave work this afternoon to run back to the grocery store (per usual, I forgot stuff) and then over to my parents house to feed the dog and let him run around before my brother arrives to care for him later this evening.
I cannot wait to sit down.
One thing I can say, this week has been hard on me. By the end of every day I have been so tired and ready for bed. However, I haven't felt the burn from the week until just this afternoon. My energy has held, my body has kept up and my mind is as sharp as it's going to be for almost 8 months pregnant. I'm very thankful to still have my energy and to still feel very much like myself.
But I know the time will be here soon when I won't feel so great and my body won't want to keep up with this breakneck speed anymore.
And so, after today, my schedule is getting paired down to the minimum. I can go back to my marathon days after he's here.
I might not think I need the rest just yet, but I sure do deserve it.

31 Week Survey
How far along? 30 Weeks, 4 days
How Big is Baby: Baby Boy is the size of an cucumber (after an acorn squash, for serious?) and weights as much as 3.8 pounds. Let me say that again...... 3.8 pounds?!? Holy Hell!!!
At our doctor's appointment on Monday we were told that Baby Boy is measuring right on schedule at 30 weeks. He is transverse and obviously very happy being that way.
Symptoms: Still having hip pain off and on on the right side. Typically a good night's sleep, some time with a heating pad and Tylenol fix the issue.
My legs get sore if I've been on my feet for long periods of time.
Total weight gain/loss:
I have officially gained 20 pounds and my doctor is fine with that. They really wanted me to gain a pound a week. I'm obviously 10 pounds behind that but everyone seems comfortable with it.
I've been extra mindful since entering the third trimester of my weight and what I've been eating. I make sure to have plenty of fruits, veggies and skim milk every day. I still indulge but dropped my nightly ice cream habit and try not to eat too many treats in one day.
Best moment this week: All the paint is up in the nursery and it looks awesome. I can't wait to see the chair rail go up and get the furniture in.
Worst Moment of this Week:
I have to have some of my blood work redone. I could kill the lab that screwed it up originally.
And all my friends are in Orlando for another friend's Disney World Wedding. I so wish we were there. :(
Movement: Still moving all around although the motions are as forceful. I think he's starting to run out of room. Mr. Berg got to feel a lot of movement last night. He kept saying "whoa"
From what I can still, I think I've been feeling knees lately.
Food cravings: Once again, ice cold water, minus the ice. I really wanted cold stone creamery ice cream this morning. Too bad the closet Cold Stone is in Virginia!
Gender: A very sweet baby boy
.
Labor Signs: Nadda
Belly Button in or out? An innie that looks like a doughnut. It's pretty comical. Although I will say the bottom is getting a little shallow.... scary!
What I am looking forward to: Seeing my brother and his roommate this weekend. It is so nice of them to help us get the rest of the work done.
Maternity pictures have been scheduled for the 16th.
Baby Shower in the 19th.
Life is good :)
Although I will say the bottom is getting a little shallow.... scary!

Sometimes, You Have to Wonder... WHY?
Yesterday I spent my day working with my Mentoring Group as we volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. My group looks forward to this event every year. It's a great day for the students to put their knowledge to the test and to teach life lessons on giving back. All in all, it's a great thing.
We were finishing up our doughnut break when I took a moment to check my email. I noticed there was a message from Mr. Berg in my in box with a fairly innocuous title "Rotary Happy Dollars."
I always get excited about Happy Dollars. My husband and Mr. President are both members of the same Rotary Club. The club does "Happy Dollars" to share good news and donate money to the organize. As a member you can donate your own "Happy Dollar" or you can share someone else's news and make them donate a dollar. People get pretty creative.
Back in November a good friend of Mr. Berg's, who is also in Rotary, donated a Happy Dollar for the impending arrival of his baby, due in August. Mr. Berg and I both were surprised that were announcing so early, we hadn't even mentioned Baby Berg yet, and excited seeing as they were due exactly a month after we were.
Our friend was equally as surprised and shocked for us when, in December, we announced Baby Boy's July arrival with seven Happy Dollars.
Mr. Berg wanted to pass along the new that one of the members had donated Happy Dollar in honor of Mr. President and another friend going on week long golf trip. As the self titled Work-Aholics of the club, it was a big deal when they decided, to take a golf trip, together, with 28 other men.
I chuckled as a read the story and then suddenly my voice caught in my throat.
"And more thing," he continues" I talked to our friend today. He and his wife lost their baby son last week."
There are no words for that kind of sorrow.
There is no way to break the news of that kind of depth.
We knew their baby was sick. We knew it was possible they'd never bring him to term. But I think we were all praying for a miracle, we all pushed the bad news out of our minds and hoped for good things to come their way.
I spent the rest of the day nursing a broken heart while trying to remain upbeat for my students. I used the excuse that smoke was in my eyes as I cried while grilling hot dogs for lunch.
My heart aches for parents who will never get to watch their son grow up, for the hopes and dreams they had for their child that won't come true, for their arms that will ache as they'll never get to hold him again.
I cannot even begin to imagine what that must be like. What that sadness must feel like.
There is a part of me that feels guilty. My son is growing and thriving. We've never had a bad test result or were given bad news. Baby Boy has always measured right on time and within the right percentiles.
I am sad because I know he'll always be a reminder to them of what they don't have.
There is no reasonable explanation to justify why one pregnancy goes so perfectly and another goes so wrong.
So today I remain simultaneously thankful for all that I have been given and mournful for all that they have lost. It is so bittersweet. So, very, very bittersweet.
