Wrapping It Up

The new year is almost here. Before we know it we'll be turning the calendar page and welcoming in 2011.

2010 was an amazing year for The Berg Household:

We welcomed in 2010 with our greatest friends while visiting the south.

Mr. Berg began a new job full of challenges, learning opportunities, amazing adventures and travel. This new job has allowed him to feel challenged in an ever changing work enviroment. He now works 50 hours a week rather then 80. Over the past year he's lost 20 pounds, his blood pressure and cholestrol have decreased. His ulcer is gone, he can sleep at night and he can actually enjoy his weekend.

We celebrated the weddings of three sets of our favorite people in May, August and December.

We traveled with our best friends to Jamaica to celebrate the 30th birthdays of our amazing husbands.

We traveled back to Jamaica to celebrate our 1st year of wedded bliss and had just about the most amazing vacation we've ever had.

We spent time with our families, celebrated birthdays, traveled to Boston, South Carolina, and Ohio.

We took in some baseball games. Saw some great movies, ate at amazing restaurants and loved every minute of it.

We faced sad times, had some nasty arguments, went to bed angry a few times and always found a way to make peace and find compromise.

I beat down the great funk of 2010. I lost the weight I hated gaining and have goals to lose some more.
We were able to enjoy our favorite pets for another year and were very thankful they didn't cost us a fortune.

I broke my car, I fixed my car, and will spend the better part of 2011 paying off that broken car.
I successfully mentored 13 students interested in the construction industry. I'm currently mentoring 15 more.

I've spoken at regional meetings about the importance of secodary education, no matter what the type.

I earned my PHR certification. I wrote a new policy manual. Made some really tough decisions both at work and in my personal life. I found some hard battles and will forever have the mental scars to prove it.

I brunt my wrist, sliced open my thumb (twice), learned to hate skin glue (and urgent care doctors for that matter). Suffered from one sinus infection, a double ear infection, three colds and one bummed back.

In the kitchen I cooked some fantastic meals. I made a few crappy ones as well.

I managed to keep all of our plants alive, I didn't kill the cats or my huband either pruposefully or accidentally.

All in all, I had an amazing year. The best yet thus far.

My only real and true goal for 2011 is to make it a great one.
In 2011 I hope to:
  • Reach my goal weight and maintain it.
  • Cook three new recipes each month
  • Create a food bucket list and try some of the things I have yet to eat
  • Read a book a month
  • Get pregnant (ohmygod I just wrote that down)
  • Paint our guest bath, upstairs hallway, master bedroom and master bathroom
  • Redo the basement entertainment area
  • Get out of debt (aside from the house payment, that will take for-frickin-ever)
  • Smile more
  • Continue to workout four times a week
I'm a very lucky girl. This is know is true. I have an amazing husband, a supportive and awesome family, friends that I'll love forever and a job that keeps me on my toes.

For 24 years I spent the better part of my life not really knowing what to do with it. The past four have been incredible. Finding myself, my passions, my life blood, all of that has done wonders for me.

I truly, truly believe life is just starting to get good. All of these amazing things, all of these amazing experiences and people and challenges.... it is all just the beinging of something even greater.

2011- I cannot wait to see what you have in store for me. Bring it on.

Just In Time to Screw It All Up Again

I'm happy to report that last night's work out went a heck of a lot better then Monday's. I didn't feel like dying. I didn't end up on the floor in a sweaty, exhausted heap. Bob did not need to provide encouragement of any sort. In fact, Bob was nowhere to be found actually.....

I fumbled through the first 10 minutes of my workout last night. I lost my stride over Christmas, so it took me awhile to regain it. My coordination was also out the window. Although that shouldn't come as a shock really. I have trouble walking up the steps most days.

By the end I felt refreshed, revived and ready for the next.

Today is my last workout before handing South. This means next Monday will probably be somewhat similar to this past Monday.

And I'm starting The Firm Express Workouts.....

I do not see this ending well at all my friends.

So, my goal for this weekend is to keep a lid on it.
Yes, I will be eating some Mexican at my favorite place.
There will be alcohol and good food.
I can survive, I can moderate. I can, I can, I can.

And if I can't, well then, Monday will just suck and I'll get over it.

Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.

Well, that was bad

Yesterday I thought I was on a roll.

Healthy Foods? Check
Drink Lots of Water? Check
Track Everything? Check
Had a Fantastic Workout? HA!!!

As I was getting changed into my workout gear last night, a thought struck me. Would The Firm Boot Camp Work Out DVD really be a good idea after almost a week off from working out?

Sure, I thought. I'm a warrior.....

Half way through the video, this warrior was laying on the floor in a sweaty, panting heap.
My only saving grace, an over weight cat named Bob. He found it in him to jump off the couch he was lounging on and sit on my belly. I assume this is some version of kitty encouragement.

So yeah, I am not immune to sugar and carb with drawls.
oh

And I totally ate too much this past weekend.

And I kicked my own ass into submission.

Today is a new day. And now if you'll excuse me, I need to fill up my water bottle and attend to my sore muscles.

The Plan for Today:

Breakfast- Fiber One Cereal mixed with 1/2 cup Light Yogurt with a Banana and 1/2 cup of thawed frozen strawberries

Snack #1- Pear and a piece of light baybel cheese

Lunch- Garden Burger on Light English Muffin with 2% Cheese and a table spoon of Jerk Sauce. Salad with Light Asian Dressing and Broccoli.
Snack #2- Apple and Light String Cheese
Dinner- Lean Ham Steak, Au gratin Potatoes, Snap Peas. Salad with Light Dressing and a sprinkling of blue cheese crumbles.

Oh Sweet Jebus

Well, Christmas came and went.
As always it was indeed wonderful and magical and amazing. My brother was home, my whole family was together and I was one very happy girl.  But as always Christmas went by too quickly, we all ate too much, slept too little and by Sunday afternoon everyone had a belly ache.

I had never been so happy for Monday to get here and for life to return to normal.

There will be three days of normalcy before it all goes to pot again.
Thursday evening we leave for VA and our extended family. I can't wait to see them. My liver on the other hand, could wait. It could wait a very, very long time in fact.

I could go into a lot of specifics regarding this past weekend but the long in the short of it: I came, I saw, I ate.

Today and through out the week I am going to focus a large amount of my attention on eating properly, drinking lots of water and making good choices. This coming weekend will be a little crazy, but I'll survive.

Today:
Drink lots of water
Eat light and healthy
The Firm: Boot Camp Workout

Tuesday:
Drink lots of water
Eat light and healthy
The Firm: Ultimate Fat Burning Workout

Wednesday:
Again, lots of water and light healthy eating
The Firm: Total Body Crunch Time Workout

Next week I will start The Firm Express. I figure what the heck, new year, new workout plan.
I've been reading the materials included in the Firm Express box. I plan to start the Kick Start Workout on the 3rd. The kick start work outs are designed to be two short workouts a day. One in the morning, one in the afternoon. They also recommend starting on a Thursday. Yeah, that's not going to happen.

My schedule for next week is a little funky. Also, I typically don't do workouts in the mornings that require a lot of weights. Thanks to my ungodly low blood pressure, it never ends well for me if I do too much in the mornings.

Thus, I'll be doing both workouts back to back in the evenings. Each workout is 20 minutes. If I have to take a break in between each workout, I will. If I don't, I won't.

Next Thursday I will add measurements to my tracking. Mr. Berg will be thrilled, seeing as he'll get to help. Lucky Mr. Berg. :)

I'm ready to refocus. Ready for more structure and a more defined schedule. Bring it on.

Notes to Self

Dear Self-

Christmas is only one day. You get to eat like a machine on Christmas, not for the three and a half working days prior to Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Put the M&Ms down, back away from the box of chocolates, stop visiting the coffee bar which suddenly became treats-for-all land. It's not worth it. None of it is worth it.

Seriously, do you want your big ass back? I think not.

With Love,
J-Berg

In all seriousness ya'll, I need to stop. I will say, prior to Monday, I had done an excellent job. Way, way better then last's years food fest that resulted in a ten pound weight gain in the month of December alone.

WOAH!

But I couldn't easily slide right back into that rut if I'm not careful.

Tomorrow is a half day at work complete with Holiday Luncheon and cookie contest. I'm in charge of the day's festitives. I outsourced the cookie contest to another co-worker.
I won't make myself available for cookie judgeing.

For the lunch I ordered in sandwhiches and we'll have chips and drinks. I've already budgeted for that.

Tomorrow night is dinner out. Again, fine. I've already planned my menu and plan to stick to it.

I'm giving myself a free pass on Friday and Saturday. It's truly not worth the battle and I'd like to enjoy my holiday.

Sunday though, forgetaboutit, I'll be hitting the ground running.

I have big plans to complete the 4 day Jump Start Plan with my new Firm DVD's before I leave for our New Year's Eve trip. Which is another long food fest story.....

Future Me

Five years ago this month, I was picking up the pieces of my former life. The dust from the great Crash of July 05 had settled and I was gaining my footing in all the newness around me. New job, new apartment, new roommate, new boyfriend, new life...
On December 20th, 2005 I logged onto a website called FutureMe.org.
I wrote myself a letter, set it to email me in 2010 and promptly forgot all about it.

Imagine my surprise when I checked my email yesterday to discover and email titled "Blast From the Bast"

It read something like this:

Dear FutureMe,

2005 was intended to be the year where everything came together. You thought you would be engaged, you thought you would be planning a wedding, you thought you'd be in a successful GA position and you thought you had it all together. But instead, everything fell apart.

But there is so much to be learned from 2005. Look at how resilient you are, look at how far you've come. You picked yourself up, moved yourself on and have had fun with a life that isn't always so easy, even when you think you've got it all planned out.

Remember, life is what happens when you're busy making plans. But keep making those plans, keep setting those goals, keep dreaming big dreams. There is so much more to life then the simple things you think you know, the the complex things you never will.

Keep moving, that's what *MyFormer Last Name's * do- they move.

Did you get married yet? Did you find the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with? I hope you stayed skinny, got your MBA, traveled to places you've never been.
There's so much out there in this world of ours. Do something great, be someone greater!! 2005 was your first real chance at life? Did you take it?

Your biggest fan-
Yourself

I would like to thank my former myself for being so damn resilient. For motoring through some of the roughest times I ever knew.

I was so much more powerful and so much braver then I gave myself credit for.
In 2005 I climbed a huge mountain, but that won't be the only one. There are many, many more mountain a head, some seen, some unseen. I hope I handle then with as much grace and grit as I did before. Was I perfect? Heck no. I spent plenty of time lost in my own mistakes.
But I remained resilient and I kept going.
I hope I'm always that smart.

Brace Yourself Kids.... We're Going to Fat Camp

I should preface this email with the following statement:
I love my MeeMee (Meem's) and Pops. I really, really do. They are wonderful grandparents. However, when it comes to body image, food and healthy eating, MeeMee knows not what she does.details to follow.....
A month from next Wednesday Mr. Berg and I are going on our first family vacation with my brother and parents. We (as in everyone going) should be excited. But sadly, no one is.

We are traveling to Florida to visit my mom's parents. My Pops will soon be turning 90 and his health is failing. This may very well be our last visit to see him. He couldn't make our wedding a few years ago due to his health, and while he has met Mr. Berg, it's been probably five years since Mr. Berg has seen him.

We are long over due for this visit.

Unfortunately, that's where the tricky part comes in....

Meemee.

I love her. We all love her. But we also call her the Food Nazi. She's been on a diet for years and makes everyone else around her diet as well. She's so "into it" or "bad about it" that her friends stopped coming to her house for happy hour and nicknamed her the Naples Food Police Chief.

Pops has learned to eat things frozen because she'll freeze food so he can't eat it.

When my parents first got married my Dad came to bed one night when my grandparents were visiting and said to my mom "You know your Dad's in the kitchen eating frozen coffee cake?"
Mom was completely unfazed.

Meem's hides food from people. You can't send her anything "fattening" or "bad" because she'll throw it away. She's an evil dictator when it comes to food.

She also enjoys informing us of whether or not we're too fat. She loves to pick apart the food on our plates and "helps" us find something to order off of any menu. Any time she calls us she reports in on which cousin looks good and which cousin should invest in liposuction.

Any time we visit and stay with her, we have to sneak in food and eat in secret.
Most of the time we're successful however, there was that one time when my mom went to visit her and the ants found her chocolate bar stash.... then Meem's did.... and needless to say, MOM.WAS.SCREWED.

Now, I know I'm involved in the journey of weight loss for myself. I'm doing what I'm doing for me, for my life, my self image, my health etc.

However, if there was ever an extra incentive to drop an extra 5 pounds. This is it.

A Day in the Life of the Bergs

Last Night:
Mr Berg: What are you doing?
J-Berg: Taking a picture of Bob under the Christmas Tree
MB: (exasperated tone) Why?
JB: I think it would be cute on next year's Christmas card
MB: I wouldn't do that
JB: Why not?
MB: With any luck, he won't be here next year

Augh......

Also Last Night:

MB: We are probably going to get a Christmas card from Lori* this year
JB: Lori?
MB: You remember Lori, from my old job before we met
JB: You mean your ex-girlfriend?
MB: She's not my ex-girlfriend
JB: Well, you slept with her didn't you?
MB: {silence}
JB: So, yeah, I remember Lori
MB: It's not a big deal
JB: So, my ex "sleep over" buddy could send me a Christmas card and that would be okay?
MB: {silence}
JB: Yeah, I thought so
*name changed to protect the slutty

Today

JB: What did you have for lunch
MB: A cup of chicken corn soup
JB: That's it?
MB: And sausage gravy over hash browns and biscuits
JB: How is that a good idea?
MB: It was delicious
JB: Yeah, I'll remind you of that when your belly hurts tonight
MB: Are we still having left over pork chops for dinner
JB: Yeah, why?
MB: I've been thinking about those things all day, they were good.
JB:  :headdesk:

Caught Off Guard

I typically listen to my Ipod every day at work.  I turn it on at the beginning of the day, hit shuffle and go about my business. Most days I don't pay much attention to what it plays unless a favorite song comes on or if I have to take a phone call (there's some "less then work appropriate" songs on there).

Today, my Ipod has been rocking out some amazing songs, Counting Crows songs I haven't heard in months, a few of my absolute sentimental favorites, a couple up beat party songs. For about 30 minutes, it was as if my Ipod was allowing me to relive my college experience through music.

And then the song, came on. Pink's Who Knew. I know I've talked about this song before. It's the song that hands down makes me think of GI Joe more then any other song out there. For whatever reason it stopped me dead in my tracks.

For a few minutes I couldn't move and I just sat there listening :

I'll keep you locked in my head
Until we meet again
Until we, until we meet again
And I won't forget you my friend
What happened?
If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong

And that last kiss I'll cherish
Until we meet again
And time makes it harder
I wish I could remember
But I keep your memory
You visit me in my sleep
My darling, who knew?

The song reminded me that come July, it will be six years since I saw him last. For someone who I thought would always be in my life, six years feels like forever.

It also reminded me how far I've come and how amazing my life is now. I am thankful for the time I spent sharing my life with GI Joe. I learned a lot, loved a lot, grew a lot and felt a lot. But what I am even more thankful for, is the six years since GI Joe.

Had I not left, I never would have know what it felt like to find true, real and sustaining love. I never would have finished my graduate degree, moved home, found our house. I wouldn't have the friends that I hold dear. I would only be a shell of what I am today.

Life takes on such amazing twists and turns and challenges. So many of which we don't realize until have they've past. I don't mourn the life I had. I don't envy the person I once was. But I do like to revisit that time in my life. I like to think about who I was. I like to laugh at how I thought I had it all figured out. And really, I knew NOTHING. Had I stayed where I was, my life would have essentially stopped at 23. How tragic.

The past six years have been the hardest, most challenging years of my life. I pulled myself out of a dark, deep hole. I patched up my broken heart as best I knew how and I went on. That's when the good stuff came, Mr. Berg, my favorite friends, my real life.
Sure, my scars still ache. Certain days I miss parts of my life with  GI Joe in a very nostalgic, far away kind of way. I still wonder about who I could have been. But I am always thankful I'm not whoever that was.

I am thankful for the crash. Thankful for the sleepless nights, the tears that never seemed to stop and the bottomless pit my heart fell into. Had it not, had none of that happened, I would never have known, never have appreciated all that God has graced me with. And my gosh, it is so good, all of it, is so good.

So, GI Joe, where ever you are.
I hope things turned out okay for you too.

Thanks for all that you did and didn't do.

100 Posts Later

So, I've created 100 posts as of this one.

I've discussed my cats, my life, my lack of grace, food, weight loss, Mr. Berg, cat puke, reading, the great funk of 2010 and so much more.
I have one follower.... he looks kind of scary.

It's been a fun ride so far.
Anyone agree?

I would like to confess, that as of today, I have not worked out in 9 days. Nine! That's pretty bad.
With the exception of Saturday, I have been tracking everything I've eaten and stayed within my points. I was down when I weighed in last Thursday. According to my very unscientific "pants fit test" I should probably weigh in tomorrow around the same weight as last week.
My other very unscientific "how do I look naked in the mirror test" shows I could actually be down again this week. I doubt the validity of this one.

Tomorrow is a new WW week and a week that actually allows me time to workout more then once.
My plan is to workout Thursday through Saturday. Sunday is a day of rest.  Monday through Wednesday workout. Days of Rest Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I might work out the Sunday following Christmas but I'm not making any promises.

I am so incredibly excited for the new year.
"Santa" aka Mr. Berg is bringing me the new Firm Express Workouts this Christmas.
I plan on following the rotation starting January 3rd. I will also be adding some additional workouts in my week as I see fit.
I am going to start tracking some of my measurements in January as well. I think it will be nice to see those changes as well as what the scale says.
Starting in January I will also begin posting a recipe a week.
And hopefully, I'll actually get a life as well. And maybe we'll talk about something other then weight loss.

No promises people, no promises.

Post 99

This post is really just a place holder for my thoughts today.
Here goes:
  • The PA Tax People love to harass me. Love, love, love it.
In 2007 I made an error in my taxes, I caught it after I submitted my return. I quickly fixed the error, filed an amendment and paid the additional money due promptly and without reminder. I fully admit it was my mistake and took the steps necessary to correct it quickly. In 2007 the PA Tax People accepted my amendment and all was well.
Guess what I got on Friday? A letter stating a under filed my 2007 taxes by A LOT OF MONEY.
    Cue heart attack for J-Berg.
My accountant took a look at my letter and tax return and amendment today.
He determined that the PA Tax People failed to look in the proper location on my return to find my missing money.
    Stupid a-hole Tax People.
I swear my name is on a list of "bad, bad tax payers" somewhere and unjustly so, if I say so myself.
  • I haven't worked out since last Monday. I really miss working out. But there isn't any time.
  • I will return to the wonderful world of workouts on Thursday. Praise Jebus!
  • My 100 Post is going to outline my plans for January 2011. I hoping to incorporate some recipes, workout rotations, measurements etc into my plans.
  • My nose won't stop bleeding. Just an FYI.
I should also note, it bleeds because it's so dry, not because I'm a drug addict.
  • Sophie has decided it acceptable to sleep in the branches of our Christmas Tree. I'm overlooking this because I think it's cute.
  • Mr. Berg is hoping Bob eats a poinsettia this Christmas. Unfortunately for Mr. Berg, Bob doesn't enjoy them.

And there you have it, my random assortment of thoughts.

Enjoy.

Quick Check In

  • Mr. Berg and I bought our Christmas Tree last night. It was the first time we got a tree without fighting, just so you know
  • The tree is now up and our tree skirt is around it. It will be otherwise naked until Sunday
  • Sophie and Bob are thrilled there's a tree in the living room. I anticipate Sophie to be climbing by nightfall.
  • I have officially lost exactly 9 pounds as of 5:45am today
  • This morning I attended a breakfast meeting where I had an egg white veggie omelet and believe it or not, it was delicious. This is coming from a girl that typically HATES eggs and most things related to breakfast foods in general.
  • The dinner I made last night was the worst dinner I ever made. EVER. So instead of Zesty Chicken and Potatoes with green beans. I had a piece of chicken, green beans and 3 pieces of Gouda cheese.
  • This day is crazy and all I have time to do here is talk in bullets
  • Have a wonderful Thursday.

eff Wednesday

This week went to crap in a hand basket really quick.

Monday was fine and dandy. It was just LONG. Between a full day at work, a long workout when I got home, prepping, making, eating and cleaning up dinner, and laundry, it was late until I finally got to sit down and relax.

Yesterday was a LONG day at work, followed by a LONG evening of volunteering. I never got my workout in. My laundry is still all over the laundry area, I never had a chance to finish it.

Tonight was supposed to be a normal quiet evening at home. Unlikely.
Mr. Berg and I will be venturing out into the cold blustery evening to find ourselves a Christmas Tree. We had originally planned to go this weekend. But a wedding and an impending rainy day have hampered our plan.
Plus, I still need to make dinner when we get home and try to find a free moment to workout.... oh and then there's still the issue of the unattended laundry....

Eventually all will fall into place. I should just be happy I have a productive and busy life and stop whining.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda

In other news, tomorrow is weigh in day. How will it go? Your guess is as good as mine.
I've done a great job at following the plan on the weekdays. This past weekend Mr. Berg and I attended two Christmas Parties. I did well at those too. Was I perfect? No way. I indulged a little bit, but kept my portions small.

I have no idea what I'll see tomorrow morning. Sure, I'd love to see a loss, who wouldn't. However, I have been continuing to tell myself as long as I can maintain through December, I'll be a happy girl.

If I could just squeeze in a work out......

A Little Room for Grace

December is tough month. It's tough on weight loss, tough on schedules, tough on eating, tough on your wallet It is just tough.

This month alone Mr. Berg and I will be attending five holiday parties, one wedding, one rehearsal dinner and have plans for several dates to various shows and holiday concerts. Whew....

With all the running from place to place or party to party there isn't as much time for workouts. I know I've preached before about making workouts a priority. They continue to be an important part of my weekly routine. However, they aren't as often as usual. Prior to December, it wasn't uncommon for me to get five/six workouts in a row before a rest day. Now that December is here.... that's out the window.

For example, this week:
Monday- Work Out- 40 Minutes
Tuesday- Maybe a 25 minute workout if I'm lucky?
Wednesday- W/O- 40 Minutes
Thursday- Maybe a 30 minute w/o or maybe buying a Christmas Tree
Friday- 40 Minute W/O Saturday- Wedding
Sunday- Wedding Recovery/Hibernation- Hopefully a W/O , but who knows for sure.
All in all- With certainty, I will get three workouts in this week.
Three is better then nothing. I have to keep reminding myself of that.

So, instead of the skipped workout guilt I am so good at giving myself. Instead, I hope to show myself some grace. I'm still working hard in other areas. I continue to make healthy choices, look for healthy options, ignoring the ever growing collection of Christmas cookies that appear at the Family Owned Inc. coffee bar.

I also have to remember, I started this journey almost two month ago, and I was almost 9 pounds heavier then.

So, December is a month of grace.
January.... well, let's just say there won't be so much grace there....

My Thoughts on P+

As of this morning, I've officially been doing WW's Points+ Plan for one week.
(for my sanity Points+ is now P+)

For the record, I jumped into the new program with both feet. I didn't grocery shop specifically for the plan, I didn't spend hours reading about it before starting. I just jumped in and got on with it.
As I went through the week, I did spend a good amount of time reading about the changes to the program, the new points calculations, the reasoning behind the changes, the research and science involved. I trust WW, their research, their studies and their program. If anything, I think their changes push more towards healthier eating and a healthier life style then it ever did before.

Overall:
  • Fruit is Free- But that doesn't mean you need to go out an eat a watermelon, a pineapple and a bunch of bananas in one sitting. As Oprah once said "Eating too much of anything will eventually make you fat." And she's right. Fruit is full of good for you stuff, but it's also heavy in sugar. Thus, moderation people.
For me, anywhere between 2-3 servings a day is about right.
  • Healthier choices = healthier well being. Prior to P+ you had to make a decision to eat a 2pt package of 100 calorie cupcakes or a 2pt Bananas. What would you pick?
I'd pick the cupcakes too. But guess what's going to fill you and keep you satisfied? Not the cupcakes, that I can assure you.
  • Activity it still activity. There has been much debate on the message boards as to what equals an activity point. Guess what, it's different for everyone. Some people use heart rate monitors, some people use the activity calculator. Some people say 100 calories = 1 pt, others say 80 calories = 1pt.
I don't have an answer, but I will say this: However you calculate, be it HRM, calculator, or smoke signals- consistency is key. Keep doing whatever way works best for you and the results should follow.
  • Just because fruit is free, don't forget your veggies. Just don't, okay?
  • And finally, if I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times. Put crap in, crap comes out. Put good in and good comes out. Put the system to work for good, don't use it for pudding cups and crappy miniature cupcakes.

Whew.....

Happy Thursday Peeps!

I was so not looking foward to stepping on the scale this morning. I even stayed in bed for a few extra minutes talking myself into getting on the scale.

It was not pretty. The whole time I was in the bathroom I kept giving the scale the side eye. I few times I tried to stand on it and chickened out.

Finally, I pulled up my figurative big girl panties and stood on the scale.

I shut my eyes.... total chicken shit, that's me

I was fully prepared to see 140 on the scale.... who am I kidding, I was prepared for worse then that.

Imagine the shock and awe when I opened by eyes to see 138.2 looking up at me.

How does someone who ate copious amounts of crap for 5 days only gain .2?
I'm not questioning it, I'm rolling with it.
The little voice inside my head told me it will probably catch up with me next week.

He's an ass, seriously.

In other news, I would like to sing the praises of WW Points+ plan. Now that I'm figuring it out I've been very pleased with my menus. I realized yesterday that I would have points left over after I tracked all of my meals. Thus, I was able to add extra brown rice to my lunch and had extra lean meat with dinner. All wonderful things, if you ask me.

I'm also loving the free fruit. Prior to points+ I would have to limit my fruit so I didn't run out of points for things like skim meal and chicken.

Now I can have fruit and a small piece of cheese for both my morning and afternoon snacks and stay full until meal times. AWESOME-SAUCE.

The new plan focuses more on making smarter food choices. This was my whole goal when I began WW. I knew I could eat crap and work it if I wanted to. But I chose to making smart decisions, even if it cost more points.
I think as a whole, those involved in WW will find that healthier options will give them greater results.

I'm excited to see what this week brings. Over the next three weeks I have a lot of important events, chirstmas parties, a wedding, social functions. I'm glad to know I have a plan that's eaiser to work with and a few extra points to spare.

Bring it on!
