And then I got food posioning....

This weekend Mr. Berg and I traveled to DC to visit my best friend E and her husband Chippy. I was worried about making healthy decisions and keeping my alcohol consumption in check.

What I should have worried about was how to not ingest whatever it was that has made me so sick.

From Sunday morning around 1am  through 7pm yesterday I was nothing more then a hot mess.
If it could come out of my body, believe me, it did this weekend.

I've spent most of today worried about re hydrating myself and trying to get some calories in my system. Right now I'm achy and lethargic and feeling poorly. However, I have noticed a big chance it how I've felt from yesterday at this time until now.

Tomorrow I hope to just worry about healthy eating instead of worry about what color my pee is.
Oh the things we worry about, or the things my mother prompts me to worry about I should say.

If I'm feeling up to it, Wednesday I'll hit the workout routine again. If I'm not, I'll push it to Thursday.

But for right now. I'm going to worry about drinking water.
Water, water and more water....

And Then My Kidney Broke....

Remember that fluffy post I wrote on Friday about how it was going to be a good day?

30 minutes after I wrote that blog my day went to absolute bull crap.

While making my 3rd or 4th trip to the ladies room I noticed things "down there" weren't copacetic. Burning, blood, etc.

Hello UTI.

Earlier last week I thought I was getting one on two separate occasions only to discover my symptoms gone a few hours later.

Friday all my symptoms were back with vengeance. Unfortunately, my Doctor couldn't see me until 3:30 that afternoon.

Since I was feeling fine otherwise and I had an important dinner function that evening, I made the decision to leave work early and work out.

I survived my workout without a problem, in fact, it felt good. I showered, got half way ready for my dinner function and went to the doctor.
My doctor was concerned. The results of my "submission" (this is a family blog people) showed I had a serious infection.
He asked me about back pain. I told him while I had some soreness in my back, I'm sure it was from my workout and not my kidneys.
He raised an eye brow and asked "where do you think your kidney is?"

"Here" I said, pointing to my lower back, almost near my butt.

"Where is the back pain?" he smirked

{This is where I started to feel stupid}

I pointed to my mid right flank sheepishly.

He nodded, his look changing from one of mild amusement to general concern.

"That would be kidney pain, huh?" I asked.

My doctor started knocking on my back and we determined that yes, my kidney did indeed hurt.

That's when I started to get concerned. My grandma died of kidney failure when my Dad was 12. While I don't know much specifically about her disease or her death, I do know that kidney pain is nothing to brush off. Problems with your kidneys in general are nothing to brush off.

Doctor man prescribed an massive antibiotic and sent me on my way with a warning. If it doesn't get better by Monday, come back.

Saturday and Sunday were miserable. I felt like I was carrying a 5lb weight on my back. It hurt to move, hurt to bend, hurt to do just about anything.

My fever started Sunday afternoon. The Mama and Mr. Berg were concerned. There was talk of the emergency room. Being the stubborn lady I am, I refused. Who needs an ER bill? Not this girl.

Monday morning I dragged myself out of bed, half crying, I got ready for work and drove into the office. Sick or not, I had a 7:30 management meeting to attend.

Mr. Berg called to get me an appointment at the Doctor. Of course, Monday is a terrible day to see a doctor. I couldn't get in until 3:45 that afternoon.

By the time I got to the doctor, I had a fever, a 10lb weight on my back and felt like death slightly warmed up.

After further review, new submissions, back knocking, belly pressing, and God only knows what else... it was determined that yes, I was worse.

I totally could have totally told him that without dragging myself half way across town.

I'm now on "big gun" antibiotics.

I have strict instructions on how much water I should drink (a ton), how much rest I should get (a whole lot), and how much I shouldn't push it (does coming to work today count?).

So far, only two doses of antibiotics in, I'm already feeling better.

I hope to get back on the workout band wagon soon.
I ate like crap this weekend and yesterday.

Operating under the assumption that eating is better then not, I basically selected meals and snacks based on what sounded good. I practiced moderation, but still, M&Ms? Apparently they are good at fighting kidney infections.

With any luck we will return to our regularly scheduled posts tomorrow.
Work outs will resume on Saturday. I feel it best to give myself plenty of time to rest and relax.
