And She's Back.....

A little over a month ago I posted that I was taking a blogging hiatus. Shortly there after I shut this place down completely after I noticed What J-Berg Said was suddenly growing increasingly popular in the Soviet Union. This leads me to believe my content is now somewhere where it isn't supposed to be.... I'm not sure why the grammatical and spelling error laden mess found here is so interesting? Perhaps my blogging career is following David Hasselhoff's music career? Thus, I'm only popular is places not in 'Merica

Whatever....

So, I'm back.

I took a break for a number of things, but mostly, I was burnt out. Not on blogging, but on life in general. It seemed like everything was snow balling and for whatever reason, I just couldn't keep up on any of it.

I found this blog was becoming one more thing to do. I found that I didn't have much to talk about and what I did talk about wasn't all that interesting anyway. I decided to go on hiatus and see if I actually missed it or if I suddenly felt relieved to have one less thing to do.

It was during that time I realized the following:

1. I missed blogger

2. My blog isn't that big of a deal so I doesn't really matter if I blog every day or once a week.
3. It's my blog, I can do what I want... duh!
4. I do better blogger when I have a purpose. I posed all the time when I was losing weight, pregnant etc.
5. Like 17 funny things happened that I totally could have blogged about but didn't and that's bothering me.

So, here I am.

New and improved? Nah

Same shit? Probably

With a purpose? Most definitely.

I'm leaving for the Bahamas in 10 weeks and I'm currently the size of a small blimp.
It's so not pretty. Not even a little bit.

So what's the blog about now?

How to not be a blimp while balancing a full time job, a kid in daycare, a husband that works full time, and a geriatric house cat, all while keeping a house clean and organized.

That's a really long title.

So, we will just stick with And J-Berg Said.... with content related to that you see above.

I missed you guys.
Anything new going on?

The Cleanse Round Two: Recap and Other News

So, I survived the cleanse. All in all, I lost almost 5 pounds and have seen marked improvement in my skin, belly bloat and sleep. (When I get to actually sleep, thank you Ryan for not sleeping lately).

I would say the Cleanse was total success, but honestly, I don't really know. I got sick with a virus about half way through which caused some "issues" and well, let's just say my stomach is still feeling some of the effects. Yeah, not so pretty. Thus, I think my results may be somewhat skewed. I'm still pretty bloated and I'm not sure how that's impacting the scale.

So there's that. But all and all, I'm glad I did it and would gladly do it again (fiber drink and all).

And now for the other news.....

I'm going to take a blogging break. My head hasn't been in the game lately as evident by my lack of posts and lacking content in the posts I do put up. I think I've lost what little blogging mo-jo I had. Maybe it's the stress of things, maybe it's just where I am in life, right now I really don't feel like I have a lot say.

I don't know how long I'll be gone, or when I'm coming back. But trust that I'll still be floating around blog land, commenting on other blogs and reading so very many of yours, as they mean the world to me.

So for now, see ya later :)

3:30am

That would be the exact time I woke up this morning?

Why?

Because effing molars suck. Ryan is getting 3 of them at the same time.

If you need me, I'll be sound to sleep under my desk until I have to leave to pick up my little ball of energy.

little moments

Ryan says "cheese" now. He also says "hi" and "bye" and can answer "kitty cat" or "dog" when you make the corresponding sounds. I know these probably sound like such silly, little things but to me, they are huge. How on earth did that happen? How did my little 6 pound 5 ounce baby grow up? Weren't we just pondering moving up for size newborn to size 1 diapers?

I can't even explain how quickly time it passing now. It seems like every time I blink we are in a new place. I don't try to wrap my head around it. I just smile and let the days roll on, worrying all the while how I'll remember it all. How I'll be able to remind myself of how precious it really is.

Moments like Ryan running around our bedroom in fleece snowman footie pajamas, wearing a shower cap and holding my hairbrush. Or how when I carried him into our little flower wall papered half bath last night he said hello to himself in the mirror, beaming his toothy smile. Or how my husband still grabs my butt when I'm bending over to fish my hair dryer out from under the sink or to retrieve a lost toy. I always act exasperated but secretly I love it.

Yeah, there are still sucky things about life like impending storms, dwindling bank account balances and how I keep going to Target and forgetting to buy new pantyhose. Those things will always be that way... I just prefer to operate under the assumption that it's the perfect little moments that propel us through the larger problems in life.

I'm a lucky girl. No one can deny me that.

Advocare Cleanse Round Two: Day Eight

Sigh.... where have I been?

Super good question.

Short story, cleansing while sick.

Wednesday I felt achy and nasty but still managed to get through the day and stick to the cleanse. Granted, I did come home an hour early to sit in a warm bath. I literally couldn't get warm enough yet didn't have a fever.

Thursday I felt less achy but did have a fever. It was strange, the crappy symptoms were gone but I was definitely burning up.

The fever broke over night and Friday I woke up feeling absolutely fine, except, the glands in my neck were so swollen they looked like tumors.

Anyone want to diagnose that strangeness?
(yes, I had a flu shot)

So anyway.... how's the cleanse going?

Believe it or not, I've been sticking to it and following the plan to the letter.

This weekend I had a lot of whole fruits with almonds as snacks and meal replacement shakes for breakfast. Lunch yesterday was fajita chicken with peppers and onions over quinoa, dinners were spaghetti sauce made with ground turkey over spaghetti squash.

Now.... let's talk about Saturday...

As I said earlier last week, I took a bread baking class on Saturday with my mom. The class ran like a typical school day, 8:30am-3:30pm. I knew it would be a challenge and I knew the temptations would be everywhere. I also was with my Mom, who doesn't understand this cleanse, no matter how many times I've tried to explain it. And trust me, I've tried.... She keeps asking me how much juice I have to drink. There's no freaking juice, Mom!!!

I started my day just as I normally would. I took my supplements, drank my shake and made a spark to take out the door with me. The instructor provided bottled water and I made sure I had some almonds and a banana in my purse.

I decided that I wasn't going to sweat it. Instead, I was going to enjoy the class, try what I wanted, practice moderation and not over do it.

And I did just that. We made whole wheat oatmeal bread, white bread, whole wheat bread, apple walnut bread, two types of focaccia bread and a sweet bread complete with icing, nuts and lord only knows how much sugar.

The class was so much fun and so informative. I ended up eating a slice of whole wheat oatmeal, a half slice of white and before you go saying wow, you practiced such self control, I had two pieces of focaccia and a Diet Pepsi and it was damn good!

And then I had the headache to end all headaches. Basically, it was a carb hang-over and it was terrible.

Thus, a warning: DO NOT CHEAT ON THE CLEANSE. That shit will come back to bite you.

Despite my bumpy fall off the wagon, I got get back on it the minute class was over. I really couldn't be prouder of myself. Typically that would be my cue to eat all the things. Instead, I enjoyed myself and was ready to go back to eating clean and following the program.

With three days left to go, I feel as though I'm on the downhill slide. There isn't much that can get in my way at this point.. Even if the fiber drink still really, really sucks.

Today's Menu:

Breakfast: Meal Replacement Shake

AM Snack: Banana and Almonds

Lunch: Leftover Chicken Fajitas over Quinoa (I brought carrots just in case.... come to think of it I also have a spinach salad in my fridge too)

PM Snack: Almonds and a Apple

Dinner: Pumpkin Turkey Chili with a Green Salad

This morning I did a total body sculpt workout. It was kind of rough but I made it through.

Also, if anyone knows how to get my child to sleep. I will gladly pay you $40. Poor kid has post nasal drip and he's miserable.

AdvoCare Cleanse Round Two: Day Four

Today's Agenda:

Menu:

Breakfast: MR Smoothie

Snack: Apple and Almonds- I'll be eating on the go on my way back from Mock Interviews with High School Seniors.

Lunch: Turkey Burger with all the same stuff

PM Snack: Pear and Almonds- I gave up on the peanut butter. I just can't do it.

Dinner: Baked Chicken seasoned with Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb Blend, Green Beans and quinoa.

Work Out:
Half Assed Yoga, I'll explain below

Notes from Yesterday:

Believe it or not, the fiber drink was hardly a big deal. I KNOW!
I'm not sure if I finally figured out the right water to drink mix ratio or if using a dark colored cup helped. Either way, so much better.

Notes from Yesterday and Today:

I'm not gonna lie, yesterday was tough. I was feeling pretty poopy and a few times considered cheating on my cleanse or quitting all together. I think it was a combination of lack of sleep, the constant go-go-go and the soreness from my previous day's workout. But I fought through it and here's why. I'm working so hard, I owe it to myself to do this and do it right. I've let far too many bad days win and yesterday was not that day.

Truth be told, I'm pretty damn proud of myself.

Today I feel a little better. I think Ryan and I caught a bit of a virus so we're just not up to par, but I'm sticking to this. I have to. I owe it to myself.

And yes I'm taking advil, drinking a lot of water and going to bed at 7:45pm. Doesn't everyone?

AdvoCare Cleanse Round Two: Day Three

I'm writing this morning's post with one eye open. Ryan, also never one to do anything half assed, is cutting three molars at once. Thus, he was up every two hours, if not more. Mr. Berg and I shuffling through life this morning like refugees. What day is it? What time is it? Where's my glasses? Why is it morning already?
To add to the fun. I attempted to curl my hair this morning and now I look like Farrah Fawcett met a light socket. Ryan had a huge diaper blow out on the way to daycare this morning that results in the need for new pants, a shirt and socks. WTF?
And I got detoured three separate times on the way to work. I'm over today.

Today's Agenda

Menu

Breakfast: MR Smoothie- Did you know the longer you blend it the more frothy and whipped it becomes.... yes, I just read that sentence by to myself and said "Duh!"

AM Snack: Pear and Almonds (totally forgot my Banana this morning... darn I don't have to eat the yucky peanut butter)

Lunch: Turkey Burger with Guacamole and Fresh Salsa. Spinach Salad with Orange EVOO and White Balsamic Vinegar.

PM Snack: Apple and Almonds- easy to carry with me when I'm running from one place to the next

Dinner: Chicken and Pineapple Stir Fry over Brown Rice

Work Out:

I did not workout this morning since I was rocking a sad baby at that time. I hope to get in a workout tonight. However, yesterday's workout has left my torso so sore, I'm not really sure if I can. That and my shoulder is angry, angry, angry.
If I do workout, I'll either do a 30 minute cardio or yoga video. The longer DVD I had planned this week will get shuffled to the weekend rotation.

Thoughts from Yesterday:

The fiber drink wasn't as terrible this morning. Is my resistance waning? No idea but I powered through it like a champ. (Okay, I only gagged on it like twice, okay, maybe three times)

Hummus Crusted Chicken is surprisingly tasty. I might be rethinking my lunches for next week, truth be told.

I slept like baby last night and I had a good workout. I do find that I'm tired earlier in the evening. However, that could have something to do with a very busy week.

So far, no usual cravings, headaches or bitchiness.
