I Confess:
1. I am excited about traveling to Boston for Thanksgiving until I remember that my In-Laws will be there. Then I'm not excited anymore.
2. So far today I've had a green smoothie for breakfast, two cups of coffee, quinoa salad for lunch and two mini peppermint patties and a sugar cookie..... diet fail.
3. Ryan has slept through the night for the past two nights and it has been glorious.... plus if he wakes up in the middle of the night tonight, it's Mr. Berg night to tend to him. So, it is possible that I might just get three straight nights of sleep :)
4. I haven't accomplished one darn thing in the office today other then returning emails, and collecting paperwork
5. Our DVR is 80% full... we'll never see the end of it, I swear
6. On Friday, I finally cleaned up the sugar I spilt in the pantry.... all four pounds of it. And now there's a sticky spot on the kitchen floor, probably pineapple juice. The cleaning lady can have fun with that on Thursday (I swear, I'm not typically this much of a hog)
7. Speaking of the cleaning lady, her arrival on Thursday means I don't have to spend this weekend cleaning. Woot! Woot!
8. I will be getting a mani, pedi and eye brow wax on Saturday morning and I am literally counting down the hours until it's time.
9. I started listening to Christmas Music in my car today. I'm so excited for the holidays this year, I can't stand it.
10. The list of things that need to be packed and taken with us for Thanksgiving is growing longer by the minute. I have no idea how it's all going to fit in the Tahoe.

What's In Store This Week: Pre- Thanksgiving Edition
A quick catch up from last week:
Ryan loves his crib and decided he'd much rather sleep there then anywhere else. Last night he went down around 8pm and slept straight through until 6am. Twice during the night I heard him stir but he quickly put himself back down. I was up at 5am this morning per usual and while I heard him stirring in his crib a few times, he went back to sleep again. I woke him up around 6 and he was the happiest little boy on the block. Go figure.
As for this week, there is a lot on the agenda.
I have a full week of meetings, seminars, meetings with insurance people and meetings with lawyers to discuss our will (how morbid), and planning for Thanksgiving. I have too many ongoing lists both in my head and written on paper to count . Not to mention too many things to remember to put on the list.... speaking of, where is that darn list anyway.
There are loads of laundry to be done, DVR that is endlessly full and never enough time to get everything done. Instead of being overwhelmed by it all, I find myself being thankful. Thankful we have a rough over our heads to fuss with, cable TV to entertain/annoy us, family to visit on the holidays and jobs that keep us on our toes.
This morning I downloaded several episodes of Mickey Mouse Club House and Curious George to keep Ryan busy in the car on the way to Boston. Yes, I know, I'm a bad mother. My four month old watches TV. I'd like to see you not go insane with a bored baby in the car for 7 hours.
I'm planning on taking it one day at time this week. All I can really worry about is what we need for right this moment.
This weekend will be a marathon of list making, packing, laundry and planning of last minute everythings. Cars will be gassed up, bags will be prepacked, unpacked, repacked and rearranged at least 14 times before all it said and done. We'll change on leave time at least 13 times and we'll still get out the door at least 30 minutes late.
I'm ready for it, my blood pressure on the other hand, not so much.
Bring it on Pre-Thanksgiving Week!

Its Okay Thursday
Its Okay.......
.... to spill half a pound of sugar on your pantry floor, sigh, then shut the door and decide you'll worry about it when you clean on Friday (even when the spill occurred on Tuesday)
... to have a day where you do nothing but think about how wonderful it will be to go to bed that night
... to work your self up about crib transitioning- call your pediatrician, talk to your friends, research the hell out of the topic and decide it will suck, only to discover your child LOVES sleeping in his crib. At least you were prepared
.... to smile lovingly at your coffee maker every time you walk by it
... to be caught by your neighbors taking in your trash can in your sock monkey pjs.
... to organize your coupons and grocery list at work. It's quiet here and no one bugs me
Happy Thursday Everyone!

Weigh In Wednesday: The Post Baby Body
It goes without saying that the post baby body is definitely a different animal then the pre-baby body. I don't care who you are, what you eat, what you smoke or if you're a super model or not.... If you have a baby, your body will be different when all is said and done.
During the last trimester of my pregnancy I began to long for what I used to have pre-baby. The long cardio/ strength circuits I would do. The runs followed by short burst trainings and ab work outs. I missed my Sunday morning runs. The way it felt to be outside as the sun was rising, how I could smell breakfast cooking as I passed by sleepy houses, the sound of the music pouring from my Ipod and feeling the rhythm of my body as I made my way down the pavement. I naively thought that I'd be back to running by my 4th week postpartum.
Oh silly, silly girl.
Instead I found myself in very different position after having Ryan. No only was I struggling with the typical vaginal birth recovery, I was also battling severe anemia due to blood loss and medication resistant postpartum hypertension. I wasn't allowed to exert myself at all for the first six weeks. I was hardly allowed to take care of my son, let alone be active. The medications I was on made me tired and weak and gave me a general unwell feeling.
I longed to feel normal and to not worry about remembering to take all my medications at the right time and eat at the right time and balance what the right time was for me and for Ryan.
I found myself quickly getting angry, not at my situation, but at my body. I felt it had failed me. I was once so strong, so active, and so full of energy. And suddenly I wasn't able to carry my son and walk up the steps at the same time. I physically couldn't do it. My body was so week that carrying an extra 7 pounds up the steps was basically impossible.
It wasn't until Ryan was 12 weeks old that I realized a lot of my angry stemmed from fear. High blood pressure is no joke. It runs in my family and I've watched my Dad deal with it for most of my list and I watched my Grandpa die from complications related to it. And here I was, nearly 30 and facing the same issues. My doctors told me it could be warning of problems to come and I hated to hear it. I considered myself to be the healthy one, the one that wouldn't face such problems because she worked out, avoided red meat and lived a healthy life style.
Even now, with my blood pressure back to its usual low state and my anemia a distant memory, I am still haunted by how sick I got and the warning signs of issues to come. But I'm not angry anymore.
I've come to realize how lucky am I to be healthy now. If anything, those problems taught me to never take my health for granted.
16 weeks into parenthood I have found that it will be a long while before I get multiple hours to work out in a day again. Heck, right now I'm lucky if I find time for two twenty minute workouts a week. Instead, I'm focusing on healthy eating, getting rest when I can and setting a good example for my son.
Sure my stomach is flabby and has a pooch. I did before I was pregnant, it's just a little more noticeable now. Some of my clothes don't fit like they did. But just this Monday I discovered I can fit into my prepregnancy jeans again and this morning, I got my favorite pair of slacks on.
It won't be perfect, it wasn't before. But I'm here, I'm thriving. I can run up and down the steps with Ryan if I so choose. Did I think I'd get back here 16 weeks ago? No. But I did.
I'm so incredibly lucky and thankful and proud of myself.
The flab can wait. I'm rocking what I got!

Ten Things Tuesday: Election Edition
(and no, this won't be a political post)
1. I stood in line for 40 minutes today to vote. It was chilly since most of my time waiting was spent outside. However, I stood next to two lovely ladies and we all had an excellent time. I'm glad I have the right to vote and could exercise that right this morning. Everyone should.
2. Mr. Ryan decided that his crib isn't so terrible. He went down at 8:15pm and was up at 9:30pm for a quick snuggle and went right back down. He was up at 4:15am for his typical morning bottle, I was afraid we'd never get him back down. But lo and behold, he went right back to sleep until I woke him up at 6:20. I think he finally figured out he can sleep on his side or his stomach or however he pleases. Looks like that crib isn't so bad after all.
3. Guess who fits into her pre-pregnancy jeans.... comfortably! This girl. Granted, I'm willing to bet they won't be comfortable after I have breakfast. I'll let you know how it goes on Friday.
4. We leave for Boston for Thanksgiving in two weeks exactly. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this.
5. Skinny Taste Macaroni and Cheese Soup is awesome. Go make it.... now
6. I've been totally in love with a leopard print cardigan from J. Crew for months now. It was way too expensive in the catalog, when it arrived at the outlet it was still out of my budget and then finally it went on sale. I got it, a pair of shoes, and a pair of tights for $40.00. I'm rocking my new cardigan today and I love, love, love it.
7. Ryan's new winter hat is adorable. I just love it!
8. I have $10.00 in coupons for my target trip tomorrow.... oh wait, make that $20.00. I have formula coupons I forgot about.
9. It got really cold here, really fast.
10. Last week we survived hurricane Sandy. This week it looks like nor'easter is heading our way tomorrow. What's up for next week? A Blizzard?
Happy Tuesday Friends!!

What's In Store for This Week: Crib Transitioning
 Good Morning
I would love to blame my sleepiness on Day Light Savings Time and a baby that didn't cooperate. But I can't. Ryan took to Day Light Savings Time like a champ. He slept in Sunday morning thus making our wake up time that same as usual.
Otherwise, he's been a bit of a shit. Sorry, but it's the truth.
We are attempting to transition to the crib from the Rock N Play. Oh sweet baby Jesus, hold me. He's not having it. He'll sleep flat for about 30 minutes at a time and then he freaks out. I know he loves his Rock N Play and the snugly feeling that it gives him. But sadly, he's not going to fit into it for much longer.
Part of me really wants to just say "we will cross that bridge when he goes to college." But the realistic Mom in me knows, he needs to learn to sleep in his crib. It won't kill him. And so, I'm prepared to just not sleep this week. No matter how much I wish I could.
So that's what we're doing right now.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night we're going to attempt to get him to sleep in his crib for a longer periods of time. His baby sitter and my Mom both know to have him sleep flat for naps whenever possible. Perhaps we can get him to the point of exhaustion so he'll just sleep wherever? Probably not... not judge.
Thursday night we are quitting the Rock and Play cold turkey. I'll probably be setting up camp in the nursery in an attempt to get him to sleep in his crib. And we'll carry out that tradition all weekend.
I'd done a lot of research and from what I can tell, I can expect this process to be pretty painful for a good week.
So, if you can, send wine and good karma our way. We are going to need it!

It's Okay....
It's Okay.....
..that I probably pissed off a friend of my mother's. You can only take so much shit before you must stand up for yourself
... that our Trick or Treat Night got moved to Friday Night and our Halloween decorations will already be put away. It's November!
.... that I made a list of Christmas presents I need to buy for my family and decided to get everyone gift cards. I hate crowded malls when I'm shopping for other people.
... that I dressed my son in a far too warm outfit for our current weather conditions. It was freaking adorable and the sitter knows she can remove some layers if he seems hot
... That I've slacked all morning at work while thinking of ideas for this post. It's my first one and I want to do it right :)
